Special Expertise

Neil has gained a wide range of experience in structural engineering whilst working for Consultant Civil and Structural Engineering practices in the UK.

His experience varies from preparing general arrangement and detailed drawings at the start of his career, progressing to the design of structures and undertaking surveys of both domestic and commercial buildings.  Neil has significant experience in the refurbishment of buildings including historic properties.

Career Details

Prior to joining Archibald Shaw in January 1998 Neil worked with Upton McGougan in Winchester for nine years. At this practice he worked as a Senior Structural Technician on projects for various clients, including local authorities and housing associations, producing sheltered housing schemes and structural repairs to system-built housing.  Projects included structural alterations to multi-storey structures.

From 1985 to 1988 Neil was appointed as a Structural Technician at a James Cunniffe Partnership in Salisbury.  Here Neil produced detailed structural designs and drawings for the Bargate Shopping Centre project in Southampton.  Prior to the James Cunniffe Partnership Neil worked for L G Mouchel & Partners at their head office in West Byfleet, working as part of a team on the Gatwick North Terminal.

Since joining Archibald Shaw Neil has taken responsibility for many projects, including designs for Legoland in Windsor, residential developments, numerous inspections of listed buildings, including sites managed by English Heritage, together with various designs for barn conversions and new build projects.
