IAN SHEPPARD BSc (Hons) CEng MIStructE
Ian joined our practice as an Associate in February 2016, bringing with him over 20 years’ experience in structural engineering with several consulting engineering practices. He has extensive analysis and design experience, including 3D structural modelling and Building Information Modelling.
Having taken over the reins in the Newbury office he has continued to build on its many strengths in delivering excellent consulting engineering services within the Thames Valley and beyond.
Prior to joining Archibald Shaw, Ian worked for a number of companies, notably WSP and Ramboll (formally Whitbybird) holding both Senior Engineer and Associate positions.
After he graduated from Bristol University in 1996 he joined WSP as a Graduate Engineer working on Hampshire County Council education projects and for retail sector clients. In 2004, he moved to Whitbybird as a Senior Engineer to gain further experience within the educational sector and new experience within the residential sector. In 2013, Ian moved to Atkins to gain site experience as part of the Resident Engineer’s team. He spent a year on site leading a small team of engineers on a large Civil Engineering project supervising reinforced concrete works.
He passed the Institution of Structural Engineers Part 3 examination at the first attempt in April 2004, becoming a Chartered Engineer in October of that year.
Since joining Archibald Shaw, Ian has taken responsibility for many projects, including designs for two new primary schools in West Berkshire, residential conversions and numerous inspections of buildings.
